Dr. G has had a full-time Psychology and Behavioral Medicine practice for more than 30 years. In doctoral studies at Temple University, she was trained in the practice of Brief, Strategic Therapy at a time when health maintenance organizations (HMOs) were still in their infancy. As soon as they became popular, she coordinated a patient group that eventually included more than 10,000 participants, for more than ten years before that system changed again.
Brief, Strategic Therapy involves accurate identification of the underlying cause(s) of a person’s symptoms, and then providing “a smorgasbord” of possible solutions from which patients can select the one or ones that work best for them. Dr. G specializes in problems that affect both the physical and emotional sides of life.
Dr. G’s practice has followed the original model in that patients will work with her for a relatively short period of time to resolve their presenting problems. Then, several years down the road when new difficulties arise, a brief contact of a few sessions is all that is needed to put things back in order, because there is no need to start all over again from the beginning.
Dr. G is a life member of both the American and Pennsylvania Psychological Associations, is a Fellow in the Philadelphia College of Physicians, and holds membership in many other professional and charitable organizations.
